To create an alliance, click on the Allies button in the game and enter a name in for the alliance in the text field next to the drop-down menu for alliance types. Then select an alliance type. If you want to ensure your alliance name looks good, keep in mind that the game will refer to your alliances as "The Alliance." If you create an information alliance named Overlords, the game will refer to it as "The Overlords Information Alliance."
On the allies page, if you are the leader of an alliance, you can choose to invite people into your alliance. If they accept the invite, they will be members. To add members, hold down ctrl and click the members names in the box to the right that you want to invite. Once you have selected them, make sure you have "invite" selected also and press the Submit button. A list of who was invited will display.
This works the same as adding members but, instead, you select from the list on the left, which displays all of the current members.
Very similar to removing members, you do this by choosing a single name from the list to the left.
To Dissolve an Alliance, click the Dissolve Alliance button. This will remove all members from the alliance. It will also remove any alliance mail that was sent and notify members that it was dissolved.
The alliance hitlist is a useful way of informing the entire alliance of an enemy. To do this you simply type the name of the enemy kingdom into the 'Add Name' box and then click the 'Add Name' Button. Kingdoms on the hitlist will show up on ally attack screens in red font when in range.
To do this simply click on a name from the bottom list and hit 'Remove From List' The kingdom will no longer be listed as an alliance enemy. Multiple names can be selected by holding the ctrl button.
Another practical use for the "hit list" is to list your allies here when you have a big alliance so that it may help prevent your allies from wasting a turn scrying or accidentally dispelling you.
A Communications alliance is the basic alliance type. It provides its members with an easy way to send mail that all members, new and old, can read. It also prevents other players from attacking other members of the same alliance. You can create an enemy list so that members can easily tell who they should be attacking. This alliance provides no special advantages, but it does not have the risks other alliances often cause.
Information alliances allow members to easily share their spy reports and to let other members see a "Spy Report" on each other. Anytime a player in an Information Alliance spies on someone, everyone else in the Alliance has access to the spy report.
Every member of an Information alliance can see the Detailed Status of every other member in the alliance screen.
An Offensive alliance allows members to quickly organize assaults on enemies by allowing a member to trade a map to everyone in the alliance. This just costs one turn instead of the 20 or 30 turns it might cost using normal trades. This is the most used, and usually the most beneficial alliance type.
