Deities

Roleplay Info

Deities are played differently than the other races of Shadowmere. They cannot be attacked and cannot survive without the help of other kingdoms. Their power lies in mana, and that can only be gained from followers. Therefore personality is the lifeblood of a good deity.

Deities receive mana from each kingdom that chooses to follow them (these kingdoms are named "followers"). When you follow a deity it costs you 5% of your mana gained per turn, while the deity gains either 1% of your mana gained or 0.005 mana per population, whichever is greater. Deities gain more advanced spells as they gain more followers. Deities can cast 1 spell extra per 5 followers on any kingdom, up to a maximum of 3 spells on a kingdom per day. Those kingdoms that do not worship a deity are called "atheists".

The deities cast spells with full power on followers of any deity, though the effective power of a spell cast on an atheist is halfed. This is because people should have a choise of following a deity or not, and not to be forced to follow one just because they receive attacks from a deity daily. Deities cannot cast offensive spells on kingdoms below 10,000 score. You may change your chosen deity once every 10 days. You may not follow a deity till you reach 250 turns.

Most importantly, deities SHOULD NOT be played by new players. Deities are for players with a lot of experience in the game, and who can help out their followers with knowledge and spell power. It is very hard to get followers without being known as a player (or as a past deity). Make sure you have support before you even make a deity.

  • It is my understanding that you can now switch to another deity instantly (so far it has worked for me twice). And each follower boost deitie's "study" by 200% in all realms; 5 followers = 1000% study in chaos, life, etc.
  • Finally: Deities are the only ones who can cast the spell called 'summon genie' (unusual spell but can be powerful), but they can't use the spells: mana sap, spell steal, dark rituals, and sirens call.

Playing a Deity

Following a deity costs a kingdom mana and makes them far more susceptible to deity attacks. Therefore to play a successful deity you must give people a good reason to follow you. It is strongly recommended that you play a kingdom for a while and get a healthy grip on the game before you even think of starting a deity. Many people will go to their deity for game advice. Also, you should be unique. Try to have font colour, a good history, and a decent concept. A mindless tool of a deity will get boring for most people. Last of all, be active. You cannot help followers if they receive an answering machine during prayers.
